Diablo: Unbound Officially Announced for 2027 Release
Only weeks after Blizzard Entertainment stunned fans by unveiling Diablo 5 at BlizzCon 2026, another Diablo adventure has appeared: a “dungeon battler” called Diablo: Unbound. Glass Cannon Unplugged developed this tabletop take on the franchise and revealed it on Wednesday at Spiel Essen, the world’s biggest board game convention.
Like Blizzard’s video games, Diablo: Unbound is pitched as a “highly replayable cooperative action game” built around hack-and-slash combat. According to Glass Cannon Unplugged’s announcement, one to four players fight through dungeons, push back the forces of evil, and gather ever more powerful gear.
“You get the high-stakes showdowns of a boss battler, plus hordes of monsters that never let up,” said Jakub Wiśniewski, CEO of Glass Cannon Unplugged, in a press release. “But you don’t crawl through dungeons. You battle your way down. That’s why we call it a dungeon battler.”
The game blends deck-building with dice-rolling mechanics. GCU says it “pulls from the broader history of the franchise” and offers four familiar classes: Barbarian, Rogue, Sorceress, and Paladin. Each has its own skill tree, abilities, and path of progression. The developer adds that more classes will arrive through stretch goals and later expansions.

From top to bottom, the tabletop version looks true to Blizzard’s classic click-and-kill action RPG. The campaign covers three acts, each with three dungeon levels and a formidable boss waiting at the end. Randomized loot drops generously, and players who gamble on riskier plays can earn bigger rewards. Between delves, a Town Phase lets players upgrade skills, manage their loot, and respec. A single dungeon takes roughly 60 to 90 minutes, and a full act runs about three to four hours.
Once the acts are done, an endgame mode called Torment opens up. It lets players take on any of the game’s bosses “regardless of their tier, in its ultimate form, balanced to challenge a party of endgame characters.”

Diablo: Unbound is now in pre-launch on Gamefound. Glass Cannon Unplugged intends to share more details over the coming months, and the full crowdfunding campaign is slated to start in Q1 2027.
The studio has plenty of experience turning video games and other properties into tabletop experiences. Its catalog includes Frostpunk: The Board Game, Apex Legends: The Board Game, Dying Light: The Board Game, and Don’t Starve: The Board Game.
