Level-5’s Futuristic Detective RPG Decapolice Will Now Launch In 2027

Level-5 has announced a release window shift for its highly anticipated investigative RPG, Decapolice. Originally slated for a 2026 debut, the title will now officially arrive in 2027, accompanied by an action-packed new trailer showcasing its unique mechanics.

First revealed in 2023, Decapolice has experienced a series of strategic delays. The narrative centers on Harvard Marks, a brilliant young detective heading up a rookie task force within the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Alongside colleagues such as his close friend and negotiation specialist Carl Oxford, Marks is tasked with restoring order to the sprawling, crime-ridden metropolis of Broadstone.

To crack the toughest cases, investigators dive into the “Decasim”—a hyper-realistic virtual twin of Broadstone that houses the digital echoes of past offenses. By analyzing these simulated crime scenes, Marks must unearth forgotten truths to bring perpetrators to account in the physical realm. However, anomalies within the Decasim can occasionally warp reality, bizarrely transforming characters—such as turning Marks himself into an endearing feline mascot, as highlighted in the latest footage.

At its core, gameplay blends meticulous detective work with immersive role-playing elements. Players will reconstruct crime scenes inside the Decasim to resolve both primary story arcs and optional side investigations. Success requires carefully organizing clues on an evidence board, profiling suspects, building airtight accusations, and ultimately confronting culprits.

When cornered, suspects may yield to interrogation or transform into terrifying monsters known as “Crime Beasts,” triggering strategic, turn-based combat sequences. To craft authentic and compelling mysteries, Level-5 has collaborated with SCRAP, renowned escape-room and puzzle game developers celebrated for projects like Do Not Play.

Decapolice is scheduled to launch next year across PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC. For more updates from the studio, recent Nintendo Direct presentations also confirmed a December release date for Level-5’s Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.
