Herald of the Horned Rat, a New Warhammer Age of Sigmar Novel About Skaven, Announced
Black Library has announced Herald of the Horned Rat, a new Warhammer Age of Sigmar novel by Robbie MacNiven. It follows the scheming skaven, who love betraying allies, destroying everything in their path, and reveling in chaos.

The novel’s protagonist is Morrskit, a Grey Seer who is not shy about making grand claims. From his supposed unmatched magical powers to his miraculous rescue of the Horned Rat himself, many of the legends surrounding the skaven show more than a hint of exaggeration.
Despite his modest abilities, Morrskit finds himself drawn into a contest arranged by Vizzik Skour, the formidable Prophet of the Horned Rat. Vizzik is looking for a champion worthy of becoming his herald. To win, a contestant must be the first to capture the enormous Sigmarite fortress of Thunder Bluff and raise his Screaming Bell atop it.

What follows is a fast-paced tale of betrayal and skaven intrigue, as Morrskit and his servants try to outwit rival sorcerers and evade the hidden blades of Clan Eshin assassins.
Along the way, Morrskit must confront an even more frightening thought: “What if he really is the Horned Rat’s chosen herald?”
Herald of the Horned Rat will also be released in a special hardcover edition for the most devoted servants of the fifth Chaos God. It features hand-numbered copies, an author’s introduction, and a cover bearing the grinning face of its tailed “hero.”
