Sony has officially confirmed that the PlayStation Stars loyalty program will be discontinued in its current form. Players who have spent years accumulating virtual points are advised to redeem them before they lose all value.
The service is scheduled to cease operations on November 2, 2026. New users will be barred from joining starting in May 2025, leaving current members with less than a year to exchange their points for tangible rewards, such as PSN wallet funds or full game titles.
Points were previously earned through PlayStation Store purchases and by completing various objectives within the mobile application. Once the program officially shuts down, any unclaimed points will be permanently forfeited.
Industry observers point to low adoption rates as the primary reason for the closure; a cumbersome interface and the mandatory use of a mobile app reportedly discouraged many users. While Sony has teased a revamped version of the loyalty initiative, specific details regarding the new system have yet to be disclosed.
The recommendation is straightforward: check your balance in the PS App and convert your points into store credit or games while PlayStation Stars is still functional.
