Acer Introduces Project DualPlay Mini Portable Console Concept That Converts into a Mini Laptop

Gamers and anyone else wanting a portable gaming console and laptop close at hand should take a look at the conceptual Project DualPlay Mini device from Acer, featuring an 8-inch screen and a unique swivel-and-tilt design.

Acer has introduced the Project DualPlay Mini, a conceptual device from the Predator brand featuring an 8-inch screen that reimagines the possibilities of the handheld gaming console form factor.

For gaming, the Project DualPlay Mini supports two control configurations. The built-in physical backlit keyboard provides a traditional laptop mode for first-person shooters, while the handheld gaming mode offers a console experience for other genres.

For work, the gadget functions as a mobile workstation capable of connecting to an external screen, allowing users to remain productive on the go without needing a second device. The Project DualPlay Mini features a unique swivel-and-tilt design that transforms it from handheld mode to mini laptop mode and back.

To celebrate Acer’s 50th anniversary, the inscription “Acer 50 since 1976” is engraved in Morse code on the back panel, a detail reflecting both an important milestone in company history and the Predator brand identity.

This device also uses the same dual-fan cooling architecture as the Predator Atlas 8—featuring one Predator AeroBlade metal fan and one plastic fan—with the difference that the metal fan is equipped with even thinner blades.

The Project DualPlay Mini remains only a concept for now, so Acer representatives are not yet ready to share a complete list of specifications, pricing, preorder opening dates, or launch dates.
