Hollywood is developing a new biographical film about Hungarian actor Béla Lugosi, Deadline reports.
Universal will handle distribution. Leonardo DiCaprio — via his production company Appian Way — is attached as one of the producers.
The screenplay is written by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, the duo behind Ed Wood and The People vs. Larry Flynt. The movie will focus on Lugosi’s early years, his first steps in Hollywood, and the story of how he landed the iconic role of Count Dracula in the 1931 film.
No release date or casting for the lead role has been announced. DiCaprio most recently appeared in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
