Titled “Tokyo Colony No. 1,” the narrative picks up in the wake of Yuji’s ideological clash with Kinji Hakari. Having secured Hakari’s alliance, the team gains a formidable asset: the domain-expansion-heavy gambling technique known as Private Pure Love Train, a power capable of rivaling the most ancient sorcerers in this lethal tournament.

While the specter of the Culling Game has loomed over the season, this episode finally thrusts us into the heart of the arena. Yet, before the first blow is struck within the barriers, Kenjaku unveils a disturbing truth regarding Yuji’s lineage during the opening sequence.

The episode begins by revisiting Setsuko Sasaki, a former member of the Occult Research Club alongside Yuji from the series’ inception. Kenjaku manifests in her dreams, offering her a choice: remain within the Culling Game’s barrier or be escorted to safety. As they traverse the ethereal space between slumber and wakefulness, Kenjaku expresses a surreal sense of gratitude toward Setsuko for her friendship with his “son”—confirming Yuji’s biological connection to the ancient villain.

This revelation isn’t entirely unexpected, as earlier episodes hinted at Kaori Itadori—Yuji’s mother—bearing the telltale stitches of Kenjaku’s possession. While the manga explores the intricacies of this bloodline, the anime is just beginning to unravel how this fits into Kenjaku’s macabre blueprint for the evolution of humanity. Using his Brain Transplant technique, Kenjaku effectively hijacked Kaori’s body to facilitate Yuji’s birth. Simultaneously, Megumi encounters a sorcerer named Remi, who also claims to possess intel on Higuruma’s whereabouts.
