Halo Studios Reportedly Wanted to Make a Game Based on the Halo: First Strike Novel, Blogger Says
Halo Studios considered making a game based on the novel Halo: First Strike, with at least five missions. According to Rebs Gaming, layoffs at the studio kept the project from moving forward.
The blogger Rebs Gaming reports that the developers reassessed their approach to the franchise’s books after players reacted to Halo: Campaign Evolved. Fans asked for the events of the novel Halo: The Flood to be included in the game, but studio leadership believed most of the audience was not interested in the series’ literature.
Halo Studios then explored the possibility of releasing an expansion based on Halo: First Strike, which tells the story between the first Halo and Halo 2. The campaign would have followed Master Chief’s fight against the Covenant and ended with his return to Earth. Some missions could have been two to three times longer than usual.
The developers also discussed releasing it as a separate product. A low-cost expansion would have made more sense without multiplayer and Firefight mode. If the project had succeeded, the studio could have moved on to adapting other Halo novels. The game was never officially announced, and the details are based on Rebs Gaming’s sources.
