“Lanterns” premieres on HBO
The DC Studios series “Lanterns” has officially debuted on HBO and HBO Max, with the premiere episode now available to audiences.
The show stars Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”) and Aaron Pierre (“Rebel Ridge”). Co-created by Damon Lindelof (“Lost,” “Watchmen”), the series serves as a new chapter in the Green Lantern mythos. The plot follows intergalactic peacekeepers Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a chilling murder mystery in the heart of Nebraska.
Critics have already lauded the series, which holds a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 72 out of 100 on Metacritic. The first season consists of eight episodes.
