Kirill Sokolov to Direct Sci-Fi Teleportation Film for Netflix
Russian filmmaker Kirill Sokolov, best known for his work on Why Don’t You Just Die!, is taking his career to new heights in Hollywood. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director is currently helming a science fiction feature titled Blur for Netflix.
This marks Sokolov’s second foray into English-language cinema, following his debut with this year’s horror film, They Will Kill You. While specific plot points for Blur remain under wraps, the story is confirmed to center on a mother, her daughter, and the complexities of teleportation. Sokolov also serves as a co-writer on the project, with Shawn Levy—famed for his work on Stranger Things and Deadpool & Wolverine—attached as a producer.
Sokolov’s previous film, They Will Kill You, premiered this past March. Despite a lackluster box office performance, the picture earned a generally favorable reception from critics, maintaining a 65% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
