Journalists Showcase Switch 2 Version of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen
Capcom will release the Dark Arisen expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2 on October 9 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will also arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on the same date, with the new platform port bundling the expansion from day one.
Ahead of the launch, journalists at VGC shared nearly 10 minutes of gameplay footage from the expansion. The video highlights combat encounters with standard monsters and battles against multiple dragons at once.
The development team promises a substantial addition to the action RPG. Producer Naoto Oyama previously stated that the main storyline in the new Norgan region will take roughly 15 to 20 hours to complete. In addition, the base game will receive 12 unique dungeons designed to take around 30 to 60 minutes each. In total, Dark Arisen will deliver more than 25 hours of new content.
One of the primary gameplay additions in Dark Arisen is an equipment discovery and appraisal system. Players can uncover unidentified weapons and armor throughout their journey, but they cannot equip them immediately. Instead, players must take the items to a dedicated NPC who reveals their stats. The mechanic works similarly to Engrams in Destiny, keeping the final stats hidden until appraisal so that each reveal can yield either a powerful upgrade or a disappointment.
