Battlefield 6 Is Temporarily Free, and a New UFO Easter Egg Has Drawn Criticism From Many Players
Some players are unhappy with the direction of Battlefield 6 as Season 5 gets underway.
Season 5 of Battlefield 6 launched in October. Its first content update, called “Siege of Las Vegas,” adds a battle pass and two new maps, Vegas Strip and Area 51. It also expands the weapon arsenal with new models.
The developers of Battlefield 6 have introduced a Free Trial promotion that lets players try the shooter for free until Tuesday, October 20. Discounts on the base edition and the Game of the Year edition run until the same date.
The developers will also hold a collaboration with the Dead Space franchise this month. The promo campaign has already begun. A website styled after the 2000s went live, and players found a UFO easter egg in Area 51. Many players did not like what they saw.
Dissatisfied players say the developers are turning Battlefield 6 into Call of Duty. They also criticize the small number of new maps and point to strange new skins, which some believe were made with artificial intelligence.

Before the end of 2026, the Battlefield 6 developers plan to release two more major updates with new weapons, events, vehicles, and maps. They also plan to add a server browser.
