The fantasy film “Ebenezer,” featuring Johnny Depp, has garnered an enthusiastic reception following its initial test screenings, according to Hollywood journalist Matthew Belloni.

During the screening held in New Jersey on August 11, the film achieved a score of 80 out of 100, with the vast majority of the audience rating the feature as “excellent” or “very good.” This performance comfortably surpasses the industry average of 72 for test screenings. Depp’s performance was particularly lauded, earning an impressive score of 86, well above the typical benchmark of 67.

Directed by Ti West (“Pearl,” “MaXXXine”), the film serves as a fresh adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.” Depp takes on the lead role of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, whose life is irrevocably transformed after a visit from three spectral entities on Christmas Eve.

The ensemble cast also features Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, Andrea Riseborough, and Sam Claflin. Paramount is scheduled to release “Ebenezer” in international theaters on November 13.

In related news, reports suggest that Depp is currently in talks regarding a potential role in the sixth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
