John Travolta receives honorary Palme d’Or
Actor John Travolta was honored with a special Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
The unexpected tribute took place during the premiere of Travolta’s directorial debut, Propeller. The film is an adaptation of a book he originally penned for his son back in 1997.
The project was deeply inspired by Travolta’s lifelong passion for aviation. As a child, he spent countless hours watching planes take off from a nearby airfield, began flight training at 15, and earned his pilot’s license by 22. Over the years, the actor has logged more than 9,000 flight hours.
The story follows a young boy named Jeff who travels to Hollywood with his mother, turning the flight into a transformative journey. The film stars newcomer Clark Shotwell alongside Kelly B. Eviston.
Following its festival run, Propeller is set to premiere on Apple TV on May 29.
