Electronic music titan John Summit has announced a temporary hiatus from the road, canceling his remaining August European festival appearances in a bid to recharge ahead of his most expansive headline tour yet.

The sudden pause removes the Chicago-born DJ and producer from four major European lineups: Belgium’s Pukkelpop, the United Kingdom’s Creamfields, UNO Malta, and France’s Touquet Music Beach Festival.

Summit communicated the difficult decision directly to fans via his Instagram Stories, emphasizing the physical and creative demands of his upcoming commitments:

“After much thought, I have decided to take the rest of August off of touring to rest and get ready for my upcoming arena tour. I unfortunately will not be able to make it to Pukkelpop, Creamfields, Radio 1 Malta, and Touquet festivals. I rarely ever do this, but there is so much work to do for the tour and I need to recharge my battery a bit before this fall. Thanks for understanding.”

The breather comes in the wake of an exceptionally rigorous summer itinerary. Summit has maintained a relentless performance schedule, delivering a marquee headlining set at Lollapalooza, spearheading his residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza, and drawing massive crowds at global heavyweights including Tomorrowland, Ultra Europe, and Calgary’s Cowboys Music Festival.

The hiatus serves as preparation for the forthcoming 21-city North American arena trek supporting his debut studio album, CTRL ESCAPE, which debuted within the top ten of the Dance/Electronic Albums rankings. Kicking off on October 1 in Champaign, Illinois, the production represents the most ambitious stage design and logistical undertaking of his career.

Summit recently announced the tour’s grand finale: a monumental December 12 headline date at the 77,500-seat Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The landmark event stands as the largest solo performance of his career to date, continuing an ascent that has seen him move through premier Los Angeles venues such as the Hollywood Palladium, the Shrine Expo Hall, BMO Stadium, and the Kia Forum.

Prior to launching the full-scale North American arena run in October, Summit is slated to make brief stops in September across South America—including shows in Bogotá, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro—alongside his self-curated Experts Only Festival in New York and a residency night at LIV Las Vegas.
