Director John Carpenter intrigued fans by saying a new instalment to his 1982 horror classic The Thing is currently being developed.
“We’re working on it. I don’t know. We’ll see,” Carpenter said while appearing at the Fan Expo Philadelphia convention.
He offered no specifics about the storyline or any potential production timeline. The Thing follows a group of scientists stationed at an American research base in Antarctica who must confront an alien organism that emerges from the ice after millennia of dormancy.
Kurt Russell led the cast of the original film. Though it was a commercial disappointment at release, the movie has since become a cult favourite.
