Hawkeye has stepped away, but it’s still possible audiences will see Clint Barton again.
Nearly four years have passed since Jeremy Renner last portrayed Clint Barton in the Hawkeye series, where he was aided by Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. As the “Multiverse Saga” edges toward its conclusion, the future of several Marvel projects remains uncertain — including the prospect of a second season of Hawkeye.
In an interview with ScreenRant, the actor said a follow-up is still under discussion, but the ultimate decision isn’t his to make.
“It’s not entirely within my control. The notion of a second season was raised early on. We wanted to continue the story — especially with a Christmas setting, because that version of New York means a great deal to them.”
In a discussion with ComicBook, he was asked whether Clint has retired again and if he’d be willing to return for an event like Avengers: Judgment Day.
“Yes, he’s definitely retired, but he always gets pulled back in. He’s a family man, so his priorities are clear. As long as he’s alive, he’ll keep coming back — until someone kills him, he’ll remain in the fight.”
Although Renner isn’t listed on the official Avengers: Judgment Day cast, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has previously said there are “many announcements ahead.” That leaves room for Hawkeye to reappear in one of the forthcoming crossovers.
