Javier Bardem to Star in Succession-Style Satire
Academy Award winner Javier Bardem is reportedly in talks to headline the upcoming satirical comedy Wet, according to a report by Deadline.
Bardem is slated to star alongside his Dune co-star Rebecca Ferguson, as well as Connor Storrie (Hit Man) and Odessa A’zion (Martha Marcy May Marlene). The film will be written and directed by Alma Har’el, best known for the indie drama Honey Boy.
Industry insiders suggest that Wet will strike a tone similar to HBO’s acclaimed series Succession and the Palme d’Or-winning film Triangle of Sadness. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the project is set to be shopped to buyers at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
Bardem recently starred in the Apple TV+ series Cape Fear. He is also expected to reprise his role as Stilgar in the final installment of the Dune franchise.
