Is Sony Manipulating Game Prices in the PlayStation Store? Gamers Gather Evidence

Comment Views: 27

PlayStation users have again spotted discrepancies in pricing for identical titles on the PlayStation Store. Concerns that Sony might be using “dynamic pricing” have re-emerged.

New evidence appeared on Reddit: one player noticed that Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition was listed at $19.99 on his account but $14.99 on his wife’s account, despite both accounts sharing the same region and currency.

Similar instances were reported in 2024, for example involving Astro Bot. Dynamic pricing works like systems used in ticketing or e-commerce: the platform examines user activity and adjusts prices based on that data.

Sony has not issued a statement so far, and players worry that personalized pricing could become a commonplace practice for digital game sales.
