inZOI PlayStation 5 Update

Greetings everyone,

This week, I am thrilled to finally open the floor for a long-awaited discussion regarding the console development of inZOI.

It has been a significant journey to reach this point, and we are now ready to share our vision, our core objectives, and—most importantly—a clearer timeline for the PlayStation 5 release. I want to address the schedule first, before explaining the shift in our development approach.

We are officially targeting the first half of 2027 for the PlayStation 5 launch of inZOI.

Regarding our PC version, we opted for an Early Access launch to prioritize community collaboration. This allowed us to gather vital feedback, iterate quickly, and build the game’s foundation alongside our players. That process has been instrumental in shaping the inZOI we know today.

Initially, we intended to follow a similar path for consoles. However, through a deeper analysis of the console gaming landscape, we recognized that player expectations differ significantly. Console audiences typically anticipate a highly polished, feature-complete experience from day one, free from the volatility often associated with early development cycles.

Respecting these expectations, we have pivoted our strategy for the PlayStation 5 version. We are committed to delivering a product that meets a higher standard of readiness, which has required us to rethink our development workflow entirely.

Our focus is now on meticulously refining every element of the PS5 experience. This involves optimizing our dense, autonomous urban environments for fixed console hardware and completely reimagining the interface and controls for the DualSense controller. We are also optimizing the visual experience specifically for large-screen, living-room play, ensuring the game feels comfortable and immersive from a distance.

We aren’t simply porting the PC version; we are crafting a console-native experience. Every detail—from UI layout and navigation to screen transitions—is being redesigned to ensure inZOI feels intuitively built for the PlayStation 5.

Above all, our goal is for players to feel that the base game provides a complete, satisfying, and premium experience at launch. Achieving this level of quality is an ambitious undertaking, which is why we have set our sights on the first half of 2027.

Due to this refined development structure, we do not anticipate holding large-scale public beta tests on console. While I understand this may be disappointing, our commitment to player-driven development remains steadfast. We are eager to involve our console community through other means.

We are currently preparing a series of deep-dive videos to showcase how we are adapting gameplay for controller inputs and larger displays. We want to hear your thoughts on these changes. Whether through Discord or our official forums, we plan to actively solicit your feedback to help us fine-tune the console experience.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the upcoming PlayStation 5 release:

  • Are you looking for features exclusive to the console experience?
  • Do you prefer a direct transition of the PC experience to the PS5?
  • What are your non-negotiables when it comes to console gaming?

Please share your feedback in the comments section below. We are reading your suggestions and integrating them into our workflow wherever possible. We will revisit these topics once our development preview videos are released.

Thank you for your incredible patience. We are working tirelessly to ensure that inZOI on PlayStation 5 is a meaningful, polished, and delightful experience for every console player.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to connecting with you in the replies next week.

— Kjun
