The new game in the StarCraft universe, which Blizzard will likely reveal at BlizzCon, may be a story-driven third-person shooter.

Windows Central journalist Jez Corden reported that he received information from a reliable source and even saw project materials. According to him, StarCraft will be a single-player shooter with a story campaign. Corden was shown cutscenes, voice-acted snippets, and gameplay.

Combat will take place from a third-person perspective, and in terms of delivery and combat system, the project reminded the journalist of Space Marine 2. He described the graphics as a high-quality blend of photorealism and Blizzard’s signature stylized look.

At the same time, the materials shown belonged to a fairly old version of the game, so the current version may differ noticeably. In addition to the single-player campaign, cooperative play, traditional multiplayer, and a wave-defense mode are being considered. Corden also mentioned variants resembling Gears of War and Helldivers.
