Insider Reports Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter Adaptation Still in Development

The film adaptation of the iconic game series showed no signs of life for more than three years.

Naughty Dog platformer Jak & Daxter may still receive a film adaptation. According to prominent insider Daniel Richtman, the movie is still in development. Details about the production crew, cast, and release date remain undisclosed, and Sony has yet to officially announce the project despite discussions having circulated for several years.

The first details regarding the adaptation emerged in February 2002 [sic]. At that time, Venom and Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer stated that he was working with PlayStation Productions to bring Jak & Daxter to the screen. In 2023, insider MyTimeToShineHello claimed that Tom Holland might play Jak, while Chris Pratt would voice Daxter, but no official information has surfaced since then.

The Jak & Daxter series debuted in 2001 on the PlayStation 2, and the final installment, Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier, was released in 2009. The franchise has not seen any new entries since then, aside from collections and remasters. However, the emergence of fresh rumors from reliable insiders indicates that Sony may see potential in expanding the series beyond games and could eventually bring the franchise back to life.
