In Season Two of “Fallout,” Lucy Learns to Shoot Using V.A.T.S
The creators of the Fallout series have not overlooked one of the franchise’s legendary gameplay mechanics.
The showrunner of the Fallout series has confirmed that V.A.T.S. (Vault‑Tec Assisted Targeting System), familiar to fans of the games, will appear in the show for the first time in season two. In the original games, V.A.T.S. lets players slow or briefly stop time to aim precisely and string together a series of shots on an enemy.
In an interview for Empire’s December issue, showrunner Graham Wagner described a scene — a portion of which appeared in the trailer — in which Lucy (Ella Purnell) uses V.A.T.S. for the first time.
Wagner says the sequence unfolds when Lucy and her companion Ghul (Walton Goggins) clash with a gang of Elvis impersonators known as the “Kings” near New Vegas.
“At this point Lucy fires her first shot with V.A.T.S. as time freezes. We keep showing how she slowly learns to navigate and survive the brutal wasteland.”
The second season of Fallout will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on December 17, 2025. New episodes will be released weekly through February 4, 2026.
