How to Make Goo in Enshrouded
Making goo in Enshrouded means calling on the right artisan and hunting down a few creatures. Strengthening your flame raises your attributes and lets you stay in the Shroud for longer, so it’s worth doing early. To push the flame to level 4, though, you’ll need to get your hands on a strange substance called goo.
This guide covers how to unlock the goo recipe in Enshrouded and what you need to make it.
How to unlock the goo recipe in Enshrouded
Goo appears in several recipes. The biggest use is that upgrading the flame to level 4 costs 15 goo. You’ll also need it for the Adventurer’s Trousers, the Healing Tunic, and a number of spells.
First, you must have recruited the Alchemist, Balthazar. If you haven’t found him yet, head to his Ancient Vault in the Springlands. It sits northwest of the Cinder Vault and directly west of the Ancient Spire. Once you’re back at your base, use the Summoning Staff as you would for any other craftsman to bring Balthazar over.

Next, work through Balthazar’s quests until you’ve built the mortar at the end of “The Alchemist’s Mortar.” The mortar lets you craft bug dust, a key ingredient in goo. Each bug dust takes one critter part, which the blue beetles in the Shroud drop when defeated.

The goo recipe unlocks as soon as you craft your first batch of bug dust.
How to make goo in Enshrouded
Goo is made at the Alchemist’s station. Here is the goo recipe in Enshrouded:
- 1 Springlands dirt
- 2 Shroud mushrooms
- 1 Bug dust
To gather Springlands dirt, equip a pickaxe and dig into the ground anywhere in the Springlands, the region where you begin the game. Shroud mushrooms come from the giant mushrooms growing in the Revelwood region, which you can chop down. Our guide to finding Shroud mushrooms covers the process in more detail.
