Paramount Pictures has officially greenlit a follow-up to the hit romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”

While it remains unclear whether Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey will reprise their iconic lead roles, the studio has expressed a strong desire for their involvement. For now, Hudson is exclusively signed on to serve as a producer for the upcoming sequel.

The original 2003 film followed the story of journalist Andie Anderson (Hudson), who embarks on writing a feature about the common pitfalls women make that drive men away. Her unsuspecting target is advertising executive Benjamin Barry (McConaughey), though the pair soon find themselves developing genuine feelings for one another.

Based on the novel by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long, the initial movie was a box-office success, grossing $178 million worldwide. Both Hudson and McConaughey have previously voiced their enthusiasm for revisiting the story. The studio is currently in the process of scouting for a screenwriter to pen the new installment.
