Horizon Steel Frontiers is a new online action RPG being developed by NCSoft in partnership with PlayStation. The project brings to life Guerrilla Games’ original concept conceived during the development of Horizon Zero Dawn.
Jan-Bart van Beek, the creator of the series’ original idea and the current head of PlayStation Studios Europe, responded to the Steel Frontiers announcement on X. He pointed out that multiplayer has always been part of Horizon’s vision.
“From the very beginning we imagined Horizon as a game with multiplayer. LEGO Horizon Adventures was our first small step, and Steel Frontiers is a much larger one. This is only the beginning — there is a lot more to come, and we’re eager to show it.”
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, the drive to introduce multiplayer to Horizon is so strong that Guerrilla Games intends to release a separate online title in the series before the officially confirmed sequel to Forbidden West is launched.
