AMD Warns PC Sales Will Keep Falling, With Market Facing Double-Digit Decline
AMD expects PC shipments to fall by a double-digit percentage in 2027, while its growing data center business already accounts for nearly two-thirds of its revenue.
The US chipmaker reported $13.4 billion in revenue for the third quarter of 2026. Data centers accounted for $8.5 billion, or about 64% of total revenue, up 97% from the same period a year earlier. The business accounted for 47% of revenue in 2025. AMD expects to double its server business revenue by 2027, after previously forecasting growth of more than 70%.
AMD CEO Lisa Su attributed a slowdown in PC sales to higher prices for memory and other components:
“Toward the end of the quarter, PC sales slowed as higher prices for memory and other components began to put pressure on demand. We are adjusting our operations accordingly, aligning shipments with actual sales to maintain healthy inventory levels at customers and retail partners. In 2027, we expect PC shipments across the market to decline by a double-digit percentage.”

AMD’s gaming revenue also fell, reaching $773 million, down 40% from a year earlier. The decline was due to lower sales of semi-custom chips for consoles.
