Guild Wars to Get New Expansion After 20 Years, With Afterlife Launching in January
Guild Wars will receive a new expansion, Afterlife, on January 13, 2027, for PC and mobile devices. Preorders are already open.
ArenaNet’s fantasy MMORPG launched in 2005 and features tactical combat and a wide selection of professions and skills. Afterlife arrives more than 20 years after the original game’s release.
The expansion’s new story takes place in Xotecha, a previously unknown region. It will introduce new quests, allies and enemies, along with a dynamic dungeon whose layout and contents change.
Players will be able to build their skill bars using abilities from any profession, allowing them to experiment with combinations and create their own combat builds.
Afterlife’s content can be played solo or with others, preserving the original MMORPG’s familiar format of cooperative adventures.
