Screen Gems and Spyglass are joining forces to develop an English-language remake of the chilling Japanese horror classic “Pulse,” originally directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, as reported by Deadline.

The reimagining will be helmed by Dave Boyle, the filmmaker behind the recent thriller “Demonolog.” The 2001 original followed a series of mysterious disappearances in Tokyo, all seemingly connected to a cryptic website that serves as a gateway for malevolent spirits.

The production team includes Parker Finn, best known for the hit “Smile” franchise and the upcoming Hollywood adaptation of “Possession,” starring Margaret Qualley. Further details regarding the cast, plot nuances, and release date for this new iteration of “Pulse” have yet to be disclosed.
