Hollywood to Adapt Horror Game Mouthwashing
Sony Pictures is developing a film adaptation of the psychological horror indie hit *Mouthwashing*, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Karyn Kusama (*Jennifer’s Body*, *Yellowjackets*) has been tapped to direct the project. Released in 2024, the original game follows the harrowing fate of a spaceship crew stranded on an asteroid after a catastrophic wreck. With food and medical supplies rapidly dwindling, the desperate survivors resort to consuming massive crates of mouthwash stocked in the cargo hold, which soon plunges them into a spiral of madness and hallucinations.
The screen adaptation will be penned by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, who previously collaborated with Kusama on the thrillers *The Invitation* and *Destroyer*. Meanwhile, Scott Derrickson (*Sinister*, *The Black Phone*) is attached to produce.
