HBO to release Harry Potter series in early 2027

HBO chief Casey Bloys has provided a more specific timeline for the highly anticipated television adaptation of the “Harry Potter” franchise.

“I would suggest… the beginning of 2027. You might wonder if that means January, February, March, or April, but we aren’t quite ready to narrow it down yet,” Bloys stated during a conversation with Deadline.

While the project was originally projected to hit screens by late 2026, the premiere window has shifted slightly. The central roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger are set to be portrayed by Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton. They will be joined by an impressive ensemble including John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost, and Paapa Essiedu.

The series is designed to dedicate an entire season to each of J.K. Rowling’s original novels. Additionally, the legendary Hans Zimmer is expected to compose the show’s musical score.
