HBO Sets Harry Potter Series Release for 2026

HBO adapts the Harry Potter book series into a multi-season television show, offering a fresh take on the eight-part Warner Bros. film adaptation. HBO shared a new look at Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, an eight-episode debut season that re-adapts the first novel in the fantasy series. Fans can examine details from the second teaser trailer, which features an all-new cast and adjustments from the films.

The lengthy trailer provides a comprehensive look at Hogwarts and the new live-action versions of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, alongside a batch of new images. This follows HBO’s first teaser for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone released in March.

What’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone about?

HBO adapts each book into its own season, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which is titled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the U.S. and other regions.

HBO provides the official logline for the show:

There is nothing special about Harry Potter – or so his Aunt Petunia tells him. But when a mysterious letter of admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrives, it opens the door to a hidden world of magic, friendship and adventure. Yet behind Hogwarts’ enchanted walls lie dark secrets. Harry must find the courage to prove himself against the darkest wizard of all.

Season 1 brings Harry, Ron, and Hermione to Hogwarts, where they form friendships, uncover dark mysteries, and confront evil forces that reveal details about Harry’s past.
