The show’s second season, focused on the Bene Gesserit order, will be longer than the first and will introduce new characters.
HBO has announced the start of filming on the second season of the series “Dune: Prophecy”, which is set ten thousand years before the events of the original “Dune” and Denis Villeneuve’s films.
The series is adapted from Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s novel The Sisterhood of Dune. At its core are two Harkonnen sisters who confront forces that threaten humanity’s future and who found the order later known as the Bene Gesserit.
Reports indicate the second season will be longer and more ambitious than the first: it’s planned to span eight episodes instead of six, and will add new cast members — Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Ashley Walters (known for his television work) and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus).
Details about the characters they will play have not yet been revealed. Varma was originally set to portray Empress Natalia but had to exit the first season due to scheduling conflicts.
Alongside the new additions, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May and others are set to reprise their roles.
No premiere date for the second season has been announced.
