Some fans continue to hope for a new Half-Life title.
Valve recently confirmed the price for its Steam Machine and announced a release date. Some players linked this news to a potential announcement or surprise launch of Half-Life 3, believing the game would serve as a strong marketing tool for the hardware.
Valve did not announce the game. Players restarted debates over the existence of Half-Life 3, with some suggesting the project faces cancellation.
The data miner known as Gabe Follower addressed the community on social media. He stated that Valve did not cancel the game and argued that developers never intended Half-Life 3 to launch alongside the Steam Machine.
Tyler McVicker, another content creator who tracks Valve and Half-Life updates, noted a shift in activity regarding a project codenamed TF. He suggests this decline does not reflect slower development but rather a potential increase in production speed. McVicker is currently preparing a report on these findings.
Players have built theories about Half-Life 3 for years. Many point to traces of a project called HLX within Valve game files as evidence of a future installment in the franchise.
