GTA VI Currently Runs at 30 FPS on All Consoles with 60 FPS Support in Question

Grand Theft Auto VI currently runs at 30 frames per second across all consoles, and developer Rockstar Games cannot yet confirm whether a 60 FPS mode will be available even on PlayStation 5 Pro.

Performance concerns resurfaced following game footage captured on a standard PS5. YouTuber Davy Jones visited Rockstar North and spoke directly with Rob Nelson, the studio’s co-head and head of development.

According to Flow Games, Nelson confirmed the current state of the build:

At the current stage of development, consoles run the game at 30 frames per second.

Nelson added that he still needs to discuss with the technical team whether 60 FPS support will arrive at launch or post-release. Rockstar has not yet disclosed resolution targets, ray tracing implementation, or other technical specifications.

Optimization remains ongoing, meaning 30 FPS will not necessarily remain a permanent ceiling. Even so, neither 60 FPS nor a 40 FPS mode for 120 Hz displays has been confirmed for PS5 Pro. Performance will likely differ significantly on PC, although Rockstar has not yet announced a PC release.
