GTA IV RTX Remaster Released — Improved Graphics on RTX 5090 Shown Online

NVIDIA’s toolset allows enthusiasts to modernize their favorite games themselves.

Rockstar Games has not announced an official updated edition of Grand Theft Auto IV, but a modder has assembled one. xoxor4d recently announced the release of an RTX remaster of the game.

Using NVIDIA RTX Remix, he upgraded GTA IV’s visuals: path tracing and new material shaders have transformed the title, though system requirements have risen. Even with DLSS 4 enabled, hitting a steady 60 FPS is not guaranteed.

John Papadopoulos shared 14 minutes of gameplay from the RTX remaster of GTA IV, running on an RTX 5090.

The modder warned that increasing the ‘draw distance’ (distance) and setting ‘quality’ to 30 will put significantly more strain on the CPU, so adjust these options cautiously:

Try starting with distance set to “50” and quality set to “30”, then tailor the settings to your system. The first launch may encounter issues—simply retry if that happens.
