GTA 5 Runs at Up to 60 FPS on PS5 Emulator Amid Questions of GTA 6 PC Release Timeline

As technology gradually improves, some players harbor hopes of experiencing Grand Theft Auto VI on PC before its official release.

Following Sony’s announcement in the summer regarding the phase-out of physical discs for PlayStation games, various projects aimed at creating PlayStation 5 emulators have attracted increased attention. Tech enthusiasts continue their work, and significant progress with certain games is already visible.

For example, a user known as BrutalSam published a short gameplay recording of Grand Theft Auto V running on the KyTyPS5 emulator on a social network. About a month ago, attempts to run this Rockstar Games title caused the emulator to crash, but players can now experience the prologue. Core mechanics and physics function properly, and the frame rate can reach up to 60 FPS, generally operating within a range of 40 to 60 FPS.

The test was conducted on a PC equipped with an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT and an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

The gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto V on the PlayStation 5 emulator can be viewed via this link. Some players hope that by the time GTA VI launches, the emulator will be improved enough to let them play the new installment before the official PC version arrives.

However, the gameplay demonstrations made it clear that the new title is more demanding than GTA V. Consequently, it remains difficult to imagine that KyTyPS5 will receive enough improvements over the remaining two months to allow smooth gameplay of GTA VI on PC.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 of this year for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not officially announced a release window for the PC version, but rumors suggest the gap between the console and PC releases might be smaller this time.
