Google’s AI Convinced There’s a Twerk Button in GTA 6 — Blogger Fooled the System for Months

While fans await Grand Theft Auto 6, some aren’t exactly idle.

As some rewatch GTA 6 trailers, prankster blogger Jeffery Phillips set out to fool the system — trying to persuade Google’s search AI that Rockstar’s game includes a very specific feature.

Phillips spent roughly three months on his challenge and succeeded. In a conversation with Polygon, he said it was surprisingly easy to convince Google’s AI that GTA 6 had a twerk button:

I started the challenge in July and finished at the end of September. I have no idea exactly how much time I spent posting, but it wasn’t much. Some days I only made one or two posts.

At one point he noticed that Google’s AI seemed unable to tell obvious, context-dependent Reddit fan jokes from factual claims about the game. He decided to exploit that blind spot to push a jokey “fact” into Google’s AI Overview results.

When a commenter in a Reddit thread asked him to confirm his claims about a “twerk button,” the blogger simply replied, “Rockstar called me” — which proved persuasive enough that Google’s AI began citing his comment:

I was surprised to appear in the AI overview at all — especially since I hadn’t tried to provide any substantial or convincing evidence. I expected, at most, that it would be framed as “some Reddit users believe this.” I never imagined my own comments would be used as a source.
