Ghost of Yotei Outsold Assassin’s Creed: Shadows on PS5 in Three Weeks — Analysts

According to a report from Alinea, Ghost of Yotei, released on October 2, is outperforming Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the PS5 — the latter having launched on March 20. While Ubisoft’s title enjoyed a strong opening and solid early-week figures, its sales dropped off quickly.

Meanwhile, Ghost of Yotei has sustained strong momentum, and analysts say it could potentially reach or even exceed the total sales of Ghost of Tsushima.

For now, Assassin’s Creed Shadows leads on overall numbers — largely because it’s available on Xbox and PC. Ghost of Yotei remains a PS5 exclusive, and if it eventually arrives on Steam its performance would likely increase.

On Metacritic, Ghost of Yotei holds an 86 critic score and an 8.2 user rating, while Shadows sits at 81 and 6.2, respectively.

Both games have sparked online controversy, but the main wave of criticism has been directed at Ubisoft’s title over its depiction of the samurai Yasuke.
