Gal Gadot Refuses to Return for Wonder Woman

Actress Gal Gadot has expressed that she sees no reason to revisit the Wonder Woman franchise for a third installment.

At this stage in my life, juggling four children, their schooling, and everything else, I’m not sure I would commit to reprising the role of Wonder Woman. Stepping away from my family for such an extended period simply doesn’t align with my current priorities,

— Gadot shared during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Gadot portrayed Diana Prince in two standalone features, in addition to appearances in Batman v Superman, Justice League, and The Flash. While a third Wonder Woman film was in development for quite some time, the project was ultimately scrapped following the leadership transition at DC Studios under James Gunn.

The identity of the next actress to don the mantle remains a mystery. Adria Arjona has been frequently cited by media outlets as a likely candidate. Arjona is officially set to appear in the upcoming Superman sequel, though the specifics of her character remain under wraps.

Gadot also voiced her disappointment regarding how she and her fellow DC Universe colleagues were treated during the studio’s restructuring.

I witnessed how the rest of the team was handled. The situation with Henry [Cavill] was, to put it mildly, unfortunate. The treatment of Patty [Jenkins, the Wonder Woman director] was equally mishandled. We are all professionals, and we’re moving forward. I’m truly grateful for the chance to have worn those boots and for the immense adoration this character has received. I can only hope that whoever succeeds me approaches the role with the same sense of integrity. This character means so much to so many. It was never truly mine; I was merely a vessel. That is just the nature of Hollywood.
