Futurama Creator Discusses Show’s Future Beyond Season 14 Finale
The future of Futurama is once again up in the air.
Futurama is facing another potential end. Hulu has not yet ordered a 15th season of the animated series, and the creators made the final episode of Season 14 with the expectation that it could be the last.
However, Futurama creator Matt Groening has no intention of burying the series. Following the end of the season, he noted that the project has repeatedly returned to screens after cancellation:
“They can put us in a coffin. They can nail down the lid, but they can’t bury us. We will rise again.”
According to Groening, the team still has plenty of ideas to continue:
“We’ve been through this many times. We still have plenty of stories left. You never know what will happen.”

In any case, it is too early for viewers to say a complete goodbye to Futurama. Three extended special episodes for Hulu are already in production and will release in 2027. The first will focus on Christmas and Robot Santa, while details for the other two have not yet been revealed.
