Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3: New Map and Weapon Loot Pool Changes

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, titled Runners, has officially arrived, introducing a suite of fresh map locations, an expanded arsenal, and game-changing mechanics.

Runners marks one of the most transformative mid-chapter updates in the game’s history. With the debut of an entirely new island and the return of sprites, Fortnite is pivoting toward an extraction-style experience. Alongside these core shifts, Epic Games has implemented a variety of quality-of-life adjustments to refine the overall flow of battle.

Here is a comprehensive breakdown of everything new in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3: Map and POIs

The latest season unveils Shattered Coast, a completely new island featuring a distinct layout. While it retains the signature feel of a classic Fortnite map, players will encounter a fresh set of Points of Interest (POIs):

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3: Weapons and Items

The loot pool has been refreshed with five new additions designed to shake up current combat strategies:

  • Extending Focus Shotgun: A precision shotgun optimized for extended range.
  • Surgical Burst Rifle: A tactical burst-fire rifle characterized by exceptionally low recoil.
  • Chaos Exploder Rifle: The Dark Voyager’s signature heavy assault rifle, capable of firing volatile explosive cubes.
  • Lancehead Pistol: A high-caliber sidearm inspired by John Wick’s personal arsenal.
  • Bank Shot Pistol (Arriving later this season): A specialized pistol that fires ricocheting projectiles.

Several legacy weapons are also returning to the rotation, including the Striker Pump, Maven Auto Shotgun, Ranger Pistol, Stinger SMG, Hunting Rifle, and the Chaos Reloader Shotgun.

Furthermore, two mobility-focused items join the roster:

  • Seven Sliders: Enhances sliding speed while introducing a time-dilation effect when aiming down sights.
  • Shock Rocks (Arriving later this season): Enables a triple-jump maneuver for unparalleled midair mobility.

What Else is New?

The core gameplay loop now revolves around extracting sprites. Evolving from their supportive role in Chapter 6, sprites must now be physically carried to specific extraction sites to be successfully secured for future loadouts.

As the season progresses, players should also keep an eye on the skies; the Battle Bus will occasionally reappear mid-match, providing a risky but rewarding path to victory for those brave enough to board.

For those aiming for the top, the game has introduced a new Unreal rank. To qualify, players must maintain a skill rating of 2,500 and secure a spot in the top 500 on the Unreal Leaderboard.

Notable Quality-of-Life Updates:

  • Dynamic Audio Visualizer: Transparency now scales based on distance; nearby sounds appear opaque, while distant threats are more subtle.
  • Battle Bus ADS: You can now aim down sights while on the bus to scout drop zones and place markers with precision.
  • Storm Pacing: Adjusted circle timers to curb slow-paced endgames (non-ranked/competitive modes only).
