Former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick Joins Skydance Board
Bobby Kotick, who led Activision for more than 30 years, has joined the board of directors at Skydance, which will acquire a major gaming business following its merger with Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Skydance announced the appointment of the former Activision Blizzard chief to its board of directors. Alongside Bobby Kotick, investor and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs joined the board, while former British Prime Minister Tony Blair became an advisor.
Skydance head David Ellison explained the selection of Kotick by pointing to his experience managing a global entertainment company, growing major brands, and working with a multi-million audience.
Bobby spent three decades leading a global entertainment company, ensuring its continuous growth, and possesses real experience in building sustainable brands and establishing relationships with fans. His ability to combine bold strategic decisions with prudent capital management is precisely the expertise we need as we unite our businesses.

For gamers, the appointment is particularly interesting due to Skydance’s plans to actively invest in the gaming segment. Following the merger, properties such as Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, DC, Game of Thrones, alongside Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Rocksteady Studios, TT Games, and WB Games teams, will come under one roof.
Kotick will not directly manage the game publisher, but he will be able to participate in shaping the direction of the entire company.
