Yalmari Helander, who is directing the upcoming Rambo prequel, says the new film starring Noah Centineo will be noticeably less dark and violent than the original installments. The project is reportedly targeting a PG-13 rating, which would widen its reach to teenage audiences.
Helander describes the picture as an action-adventure crafted for today’s younger viewers.
The prequel follows John Rambo as a Green Beret in Vietnam and is expected to explore how the traumas of war erode the psyche of a young man.
Producers on the film include Joe and Anthony Russo.
