Finji Sets October Release Date for Supernatural Action Game Usual June
Ever since indie publisher Finji unveiled Usual June during The Game Awards 2023, the eerie action-adventure has lingered near the top of our indie watchlists. Now, players finally have a confirmed launch date to circle on their calendars. Fittingly for a game centered on spectral mysteries and dimensional horrors, the title lands just in time for the Halloween season.
Scheduled to debut on October 28, Usual June thrusts players into the shoes of the titular college student, who finds herself caught in an otherworldly crisis unfolding in the coastal enclave of Fen Harbour. As grotesque monstrosities invade reality, the local ghost population begins vanishing into thin air. With her town on the brink of ruin, June must unite an unlikely collective of living friends and departed souls to uncover what is tearing their world apart.
Moment-to-moment gameplay delivers fluid, fast-paced melee combat. June defends herself with a variety of ethereal weaponry, conjuring heavy spectral hammers and casting supernatural abilities to dismantle hostile aberrations. Between skirmishes, the experience shifts toward atmospheric investigation: players will commune with lingering spirits, stepping directly into their memories to piece together the underlying catastrophe before their essences fade completely.
Usual June launches for PC on October 28. Eager players looking to experience its spectral combat firsthand can check out the playable demo on Steam right now.
