Final Fantasy VII inspires many to explore their creativity. At times, however, that creative impulse spills over into pornographic material.
Actress Briana White, who voiced Aeris in the English version of Final Fantasy VII, recently addressed fans on social media. Occasionally she and her colleagues are tagged in posts that contain pornographic material — they receive the notification and are confronted with obscene content:
Let’s make it standard practice not to tag voice actors in posts that feature indecent videos of their characters… Some of you seem to have forgotten what the word “unacceptable” means.
One participant in the discussion suggested that some actors enjoy that kind of material; Briana responded:
As someone else noted earlier, this is fundamentally a question of consent. More often than not, you cannot reliably infer what an individual finds acceptable or objectionable solely from their online persona.
