Filming for the Superman sequel has wrapped

James Gunn, director and co-head of DC Studios, has announced on social media that principal photography has officially concluded for the upcoming film, “Superman: Man of Tomorrow.”

“It has been a truly joyous experience, and I am profoundly grateful to the cast and crew. Working alongside them has been an absolute pleasure,”

— Gunn wrote in his post.

The highly anticipated sequel is slated for a global theatrical release in July 2027. The project sees the return of stars David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Joining the cast to portray the formidable villain Brainiac is German actor Lars Eidinger.

The original “Superman” film premiered in 2025, grossing over $600 million at the worldwide box office.
