Fans claim the long-awaited Overwatch port for Switch 2 is underwhelming

Blizzard Entertainment has rolled out a substantial update for Overwatch, headlined by the kickoff of Season 2. This refresh introduces a new hero, Sierra, brings meaningful balance adjustments to existing characters, and marks the official debut of the native Nintendo Switch 2 version. While the original Switch port, launched in 2019, was notoriously plagued by performance hurdles, early feedback suggests that Switch 2 players are encountering their own set of frustrations with this latest iteration.

Fortunately, it appears that much of the technical instability stems from a known bug, which Blizzard has committed to addressing in an upcoming patch.

Switch 2 owners have taken to online forums to voice their disappointment, specifically citing the port’s 1080p resolution and the absence of native Joy-Con 2 motion control support. Furthermore, players are frustrated by a locked frame rate, which currently caps at 30 fps—a limitation Blizzard has confirmed is unintentional.

“We recognize that the frame rate limit on the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently lower than our target performance,” the developer stated in an official forum update. “Our team is actively developing a patch to rectify this.”

As is typical with massive seasonal updates, unforeseen bugs have surfaced elsewhere as well. The latest patch introduced several disruptive glitches, including issues with mouse and keyboard functionality on Xbox consoles and a critical exploit in the Stadium map that grants Ana an unintended, game-breaking boost to her Ultimate ability.
