Modder Working on RTX Remaster of Call of Duty: World at War Releases First Screenshots
Classics are getting an update using NVIDIA technologies.
Thanks to NVIDIA RTX Remix tools, various enthusiasts are creating their own remasters of older projects. Development on an RTX remaster for the 2008 shooter Call of Duty: World at War recently came to light.
The project is led by the modder who previously presented an RTX remaster for Grand Theft Auto IV. They are improving the graphics with modern technologies.
A user known as chasm noticed the updated Call of Duty: World at War. They liked what they saw so much that they decided to share it with everyone:
I saw a few of these screenshots and just had to share them—this one looks simply incredible.
The unofficial RTX remaster of Call of Duty: World at War is still in the early stages of development. Several years ago, it existed as the “t4-rtx” demo on GitHub. It comes with a technical caveat: for the Remix toolkit to function, the path to the game file must not contain any spaces.
The “gta4-rtx” project has been evolving since 2025, and over the past few months, the modder known as xoxor4d has released a series of updates. They have gradually improved the visuals and fixed graphical bugs, recently adding support for the much-discussed NVIDIA DLSS 5.
