Arc Raiders Creator Admits Fan Divide Risk Over Requested Game Modes
Players will soon be able to try out an alternative game mode in Arc Raiders.
Arc Raiders players have long requested a PvE mode, prompting the team at Embark Studios to listen to the feedback and schedule a test for a separate game mode this month.
Notably, Arc Raiders was originally conceived purely as a PvE game. During development, however, the creators concluded that something was missing and decided to add the ability to fight other players, shifting to a PvPvE format.
Executive Producer Aleksander Grondal shared in an interview with GamesRadar that the team discussed whether introducing a separate PvE mode could split the community:
The community is already split into two camps in a way. Maybe that will reflect on the game itself over time. I think it’s important to respect how players want to play Arc Raiders, even if it doesn’t entirely match what we initially envisioned for the game […]
The developers of Arc Raiders want to run a limited test to gather data and see player feedback on the mode. Afterward, they will decide “how best to move forward.”
Testing for the PvE mode in Arc Raiders will run from October 13 to October 20. Earlier this month, the game received a major 2.0 Frozen Trail update, which added a new map, equipment, several types of enemies, and a full battle pass.
